Where are you going to sit today?

In order to work, you need more than a free desk.

We've talked previously about hot desking and how you can improve the experience. If your office does hot desking, it's likely it's either ad hoc, where you look for a desk when you need one, or there is a booking system. With the ad hoc system, you can easily see who is where and plan where to sit based on location and proximity to team members. However, you don't know who is coming in later and where they might sit; you only have knowledge of right now and you can't plan in advance. If you have a booking system, you can see what's free now and in the future, giving you the ability to plan in advance but most solutions miss out the key information about who is going to be where. So either system has its advantages and disadvantages. Or put differently, each one is missing a piece of the puzzle. Our product, FixMarQ, has the best of both worlds. It improves the standard booking system by acknowledging that in order to work, you need more than a free desk.

Choosing a desk without all the information is a false promise.

If all you needed was a free desk, you might as well have a system that tells you where to sit. Most booking systems therefore build in the illusion of free will. You can choose your desk. However, choosing a desk without all the information is a false promise of a sort. You can choose to be near the cafe or far from the toilets but that is personal preference as opposed to helping you get your work done. Casual conversations with co-workers can often enhance your work day making you more productive either because the conversation is pleasant or because you gleaned some key information that you needed for your project.

With FixMarQ, you can see:

This gives you the control and full disclosure you need to choose the right desk for your workday.

see who's booked the desk

it will be busy in 24 minutes

it will become free in 9 minutes
